Changelog

What has changed

Every release, newest first, written the way a reader would say it rather than the way it was built. Taper is currently on v1.1.0.

v1.1.0

Filters that go further

Pro's filters can now match the publisher, the tags, the address and the length of an article, and a Pro edition can be served to whatever RSS reader you already use. Filtering on the free tier is unchanged, and the side rail, the edition form and Saved got better for everybody.

New in Pro

  • Filters can match the publisher, an article's tags, the address it lives at, and how long it is.
  • Filters can match the start of a word, so one term covers cryptography and cryptocurrency at once.
  • Filters can match what an item is rather than what it says, so an edition can hold only today's stories, or none of the videos.
  • An edition can be served at its own address, so the RSS reader you already use gets it blended and filtered. It ends where the edition ends.

New for everyone

  • Send a bug report or a piece of feedback from the side rail.
  • Put the side rail away when you want the edition to have the screen.
  • Search the side rail once it holds more editions than fit on it.
  • An edition built from video sources can show a still and a running time instead of an article row.

Better for everyone

  • An edition's settings are laid out in the open instead of behind sections you have to unfold first.
  • Every setting that is on or off is a switch.
  • A saved article shows the sentence under its headline, and the day you kept it.
  • The side rail shows how many articles are in Saved.
  • An edition ends in a field of falling marks rather than on an empty screen.
  • Links go to the publisher's own page. The setting that sent them through a third party first is gone.

Fixed for everyone

  • The theme no longer shows the wrong setting for a moment while a page loads.
  • The edition icon list is no longer cut off by the card it opens in.
  • The side rail no longer stops responding after moving between screens.
  • A source that has moved is followed to its new address instead of being left out of the edition.
  • An edition no longer produces a sideways scrollbar on Windows.

v1.0.1

Small repairs

Three things that were visibly wrong in 1.0, put right.

Fixed

  • An article's summary stops at about fifty words. A long one used to run down the page and push the next article out of sight.
  • On a phone, an article's picture runs the full width of the column instead of stopping short of the words above and below it.
  • A source that fails to answer gets a second try before it is left out of the edition.

v1.0.0

Taper 1.0

Taper is out. You pick the sources, you set how many items an edition holds, and the edition ends when you reach the bottom of it. Everything that changes from here is written up on this page.
